Unable to create directory uploads

Unable to create directory uploads Directory

I have been on this error for days well nearly a week actually. I had bought 2 established sites and after a year of fiddling and headaches, they are finally hosted on our server.

We had updated the Themes to Genesis. As the old ones dated way back to the 2000’s prehistoric I might say hehe.

All going well and another problem surfaced up. We couldn’t load any Photos into posts always getting an error.(Unable to create directory uploads/2015/06. Is its parent directory writable by the server?), so I googled it and always come up as the permissions needed to be changed in my File Manager on my hosting account. days later still no good and by this stage, i was steaming out the ears.

Being me when I am presented with a challenge I don’t give up, yes I do get frustrated at times but it drives me always to succeed. The info on what other people had was really bad, I just couldn’t find a solution.

So I looked thoroughly on my word-press comparing our other dozen sites we have and guess what! Found something strange. In Media Setting Uploads it said /home/learn/public_htlm/wp-content/uploads. So I changed it to default wp-content/uploads saved this and tried well after nearly a full week of frying the brain literally I fixed the problem. Now I can upload anything as my other sites are doing.

Just another learning curve and I do hope people will learn and read about this so they have a better understanding what (Unable to create directory uploads/2015/06. Is its parent directory writable by the server?)

Until next time or next problem take care and hope u enjoy. thanks

It was a permissions issue on the uploads folder. I have changed it and tested the upload functionality and its working now. 🙂
